From standard to multinational membership for ACCA Software

London, U.K. - February 7, 2022 - buildingSMART International is announcing the upgrade from standard to multinational membership for ACCA Software. This announcement coincides with their accelerated developments for the buildingSMART Data Dictionary (bSDD), IDS (Information Delivery Specification) and other supportining services to the Technical Roadmap from buildingSMART. This announcement means ACCA will also be members of 4 other chapters further supporting their continued growth.

ACCA has been a feature of buildingSMART, entering various projects in the buildingSMART awards program (usBIM.ids in 2021 as a finalist) with winning projects in 2020 (usIFC.server) and again in 2019 (Structural E-Permit) in a variety of categories.

Aidan Mercer, Marketing Director noted that “ACCA has won over many jurors over the past few years at our awards program by combining innovation and open standards and we anticipate more projects in the future”.

Léon van Berlo, Technical Director, buildingSMART International said, “the ongoing commitment and support from ACCA software is almost unparalleled in terms of what they support and how they innovate using open standards. From projects to sponsorship, ACCA continues to set a high standard for the industry and they play a leading role in helping users gain value through openBIM with their tools”.

Guido Cianciulli, CEO of ACCA software said, “BIM can only be a success if all stakeholders in the construction industry can collaborate with each other in a simple way to create and update the information model. Everyone must be free to contribute to the BIM process with their knowledge and technologies, working on open and common data. Ultimately we believe that BIM does not exist without openBIM, and transforming BIM into openBIM is our mission. We are working to substantially change the BIM process, to focus on the use of the information model and not on software as is currently the case. We want to make BIM more democratic with open collaboration spaces, tools that work on standard formats, ease of use, and more affordable to everyone in all countries of the world.

We are convinced that our adhesion to buildingSMART as an international partner and the direct collaboration with multiple national chapters will allow us to better respond to the needs of those who, like us, do not see the development of BIM without openBIM”.
